Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolívar, Plant Metabolic Engineering, ABI, was recently invited to give a featured talk at REDBIO 2007 (Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Agricultural Biotechnology), the largest biotechnology meeting in Latin America, sponsored by REDBIO and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The conference, featuring Dr. Medina-Bolívar's talk, "Harnessing plant and chemical diversity for the production of medicinal and nutritional compounds," was held in Vina del Mar, Chile. Following REDBIO, Dr. Medina-Bolívar gave a second invited talk, sponsored by the Pablo Cassara Foundation of Argentina. This lecture, presented at the Center for Science and Technology Cesar Milstein in Buenos Aires, focused on Medina-Bolívar's ongoing research into the production of medicinal compounds using plant tissue culture.
