Dr. Fabricio Medina-Bolivar, ABI and Biological Sciences, was recently invited to give a talk entitled "Induced Biosynthesis and Biological Activity of Natural Resveratrol Analogues from Hairy Root Cultures" at the 6th Annual Congress of International Drug Discovery Science and Technology (IDDST). At this meeting Dr. Medina-Bolivar was also invited to chair the session "Develop Bioprocesses for Production of High Value Medicines". The Congress included renowned speakers from academia and industry including Nobel Prize Laureates. The Congress was held in Beijing, China during the 3rd week of October. During his stay in China, Dr. Medina-Bolivar also gave a lecture at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering. Dr. Medina-Bolivar's talks and research on production of resveratrol analogues and other bioactive compounds using hairy root cultures was extremely well received at both venues. Dr. Medina-Bolivar is currently pursuing research collaborations with different academic institutions and industries in the US, China and South America.
