Electronic Journal of Integrative Biosciences
Date Released: 2008-08-18

ASU's Department of Biological Sciences is harnessing the power of the Internet with its peer-reviewed, open access electronic journal, Electric Journal of Integrative Biosciences. The department launched the journal to promote interdisciplinary approaches to biological problems ranging from the molecular level to the ecological level. The journal's editor-in-chief is Dr. Aldemaro Romero, chair, Biology. The journal is now accepting submissions, and types of articles include "live articles," in which data is fed as the experiments take place, allowing users to log in and see an experiment as it progresses, op-ed pieces on topics related to biological sciences, book reviews, submissions on new centers or institutes, conference papers, and "scholarly skywriting," with interactivity via links to reader comments and discussion forums, and more. The journal's editorial board includes ASU's Dr. James Bednarz, Wildlife Ecology, Dr. Greg Phillips, dean, Colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, and Sciences and Mathematics, Dr. Carole Cramer, ABI, Dr. Steven M. Green, University of Miami, and Dr. Philip J. Regal, emeritus faculty, University of Minnesota. For details, contact Dr. Romero at the Department of Biological Sciences, ext. 3082, or visit the journal online.
