Date released: 02-16-2009

Dr. Amy R. Pearce, Psychology and Counseling, and Dr. Malathi Srivatsan, Biology, have been selected to participate in a curriculum development workshop sponsored and supported by the National Science Foundation and hosted at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga., this May. The Bean Beetle Curriculum Development Workshop builds on the successful development of the bean beetle (Callosobruchus maculatus) as a model system for inquiry-based laboratory courses in ecology, evolution, and animal behavior. Throughout the year, Drs. Pearce and Srivatsan will work as a team to develop and test new learning activities in physiology and neurobiology, and they will assess student understanding of the nature and process of science with established assessment instruments.
