COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE & TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS
The College of Agriculture & Technology (COAT) has a number of scholarship opportunities for students enrolled in a degree plan within our college. All scholarships are for full-time students attending the ASU-Jonesboro campus. Criteria for each scholarship are listed below the title.
Incoming Freshman (beginning college fall 2012) Scholarship Application
Academic Performance Scholarship (for FFA CDE 1st place winners)
- Must have been high school Jr. or Sr. when you won the event
- Must have won 1st place either as an individual or on a 1st place team
- Must enroll at ASU during your last high school semester
- Must be a declared Agriculture major in the College of Agriculture & Technology
Alpha Tau Alpha Scholarship
- Active membership in Alpha Tau Alpha at ASU
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Active Participation in collegiate activities and campus organizations
- Must have regular attendance record at ATA meetings and activities.
- Preference given to attendees of the ATA National Conclave.
Arkansas Agricultural Consultants Scholarship
- Full-time Soph., Jr., or Sr. Plant Science major with preference given to Agronomy emphasis
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Award is generally $1000 per academic year
Arkansas Plant Food Educational Society Scholarship
- Pursuing a degree in the College of Agriculture
- Majoring in Plant Science with an emphasis in agronomy committed to a career in Agriculture
- Minimum GPA of 2.50
- Award is $2000 per academic year ($1000/semester)
Arkansas Seed Dealer Association
- Junior or senior with a major in the College of Agriculture
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.50
- Preference given to applicants interested in the seed industry
- Normal award is $500 per academic year
ASU Museum Garden Club Scholarship
- Jr. or Sr. majoring in Environmental Horticulture
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must be a resident of Northeast Arkansas or Southeast Missouri
G. Robert Blanchard Agricultural Scholarship
- Full-time Soph. or Jr. majoring in Agriculture
- Minimum 2.75 overall GPA
- Must exhibit academic promise in agriculture and demonstrate potential to complete a degree
- Campus leadership and activities considered as significant criteria.
- Current recipient may re-apply (not automatically renewed) - must maintain min. overall 2.75 GPA.
Arkansas State Federation of Farm Credit Stockholders Scholarship
- Soph., Jr., or Sr. pursuing an agriculture degree within the College of Agriculture & Technology
- Minimum 2.75 overall GPA
- Must be a resident of the State of Arkansas
Arkansas State Plant Board Scholarship
- Must be pursuing an agricultural degree within the College of Agriculture & Technology
- Sophomore with minimum 2.5 GPA
- Awarded to two students per academic year
Katherine E. Franzen Scholarship
- Must be full-time student from Arkansas County (Almyra, DeWitt, Gillet, Humphrey, St. Charles, or Stuttgart).
- Preference given to Agriculture majors
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
James E. Gambill Memorial Scholarship
- Preference given to Brookland High School graduate majoring in agriculture
- Financial need is considered.
- Renewable if recipient maintains 3.0 GPA
General Freshman Scholarship
- Must be new first time incoming freshman.
- Must have an ACT score of 19 or above.
- Must be enrolled in an Agriculture degree plan within College of Agriculture & Technology
- Students who receive the Golightly Incoming Freshman Scholarship are NOT eligible.
- Students who receive the Chancellor’s Scholarship are NOT eligible.
- Awards are generally $500 per academic year ($250/semester)
[Note: Minimum 2.5 GPA at the end of the first semester to receive the balance of this scholarship.]
Golightly Freshman Scholarship
- Full-time incoming freshman (no more than 12 transferred hours).
- Must be enrolled in an Agricultural degree plan within College of Agriculture & Technology.
- ACT of 23 or above OR upper 12% of high school class with min. ACT of 19
- Awards are generally $500 per academic year ($250 per semester)
[Note: Minimum 2.5 GPA at the end of the first semester to receive the balance of this scholarship.]
Golightly Upper Level Agricultural Scholarship
- Must be a full-time Soph. or Jr. majoring in Agriculture & enrolled in a degree plan within COAT.
- Minimum 3. 0 overall GPA
- Financial need is a major consideration along with a commitment to a career in Agriculture.
- Not automatically renewed, but recipient may re-apply if he/she continues to meet criteria.
- Amount of award varies.
Kelsey Hall Excellence in Agriculture Memorial Scholarship
- Full-time Jr. or Sr. Agriculture Business major.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must be a resident of the state of Arkansas
- Consideration shall be given on the basis of leadership capabilities, campus and community involvement, and financial need.
Mr. & Mrs. W. W. Holmes Memorial Scholarship
- Incoming freshman majoring in an agriculture degree.
- Preference given to students from Bay, AR.
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Generally $500 per semester for four years provided criteria is met.
Marlin D. Jackson Scholarship
- Full-time student majoring in Business or Agriculture who demonstrates need.
- Qualities of leadership, high moral character, and promise of success considered.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Preference given to applicants from Arkansas and the Mid-South.
- Renewable through senior year provided criteria is met and funds are available.
Michael Lynn Smith Memorial Scholarship
- Graduating seniors from a Poinsett County high school
- Minimum 2.5 GPA who demonstrate aptitude and ability to complete college related work
- Preference given to those majoring in agriculture or related areas
- Other things being equal, preference shall be given to those who demonstrate need
Poinsett County Farm Bureau Scholarship
- Graduating seniors from a Poinsett County high school
- Minimum 2.5 GPA who demonstrate aptitude and ability to complete college related work
- Preference given to those majoring in agriculture or related areas
- Other things being equal, preference shall be given to those who demonstrate need
Samuel S. Lipscomb Memorial Scholarship
- Incoming freshman majoring in Agriculture or student from farm background majoring in any field.
- ACT of 27 or top 5% of high school class, or National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist.
- Preference given to students from Paragould and Marmaduke trade areas.
- Financial need considered.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.25 must be maintained
- Renewable for 8 semesters provided criteria is maintained and funds are available.
Little Rock Grain Exchange Scholarship
- Freshman or Sophomore majoring in AgriBusiness within the College of Agriculture & Technology.
- ACT of 21 or higher, or rank in upper half of an Arkansas high school graduating class.
- Award is $2,500 per academic year.
Joe McAlister Cache River Valley Seed Scholarship
- Fill-time students majoring in an Agriculture degree within the College of Agriculture & Technology.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Awarded to two students per academic year
- Renewable upon completion of scholarship application.
Dr. Olen P. Nail Scholarship (Sophomore)
- Full-time student pursuing an agricultural degree within the College of Agriculture & Technology.
- Must be a sophomore with at least 30 credit hours and a 3.0 GPA.
- Preference given to student who demonstrates financial need.
John H. Neely & Irene N. Neely General Agriculture Scholarship
- Incoming freshman majoring in an Agriculture degree within the College of Agriculture & Technology.
- Preference given to Jonesboro and Western Poinsett county area (Harrisburg, Weiner, Waldenburg, and Fisher).
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
- Consideration of scholastic achievement, citizenship, and financial need.
- Recipient may NOT also be awarded the Neeley Plant Science Scholarship.
- Award is $3000 per academic year ($1500/semester) and renewable through the senior year provided recipient continues to meet criteria and funds are available.
John H. Neely & Irene N. Neely Plant Science Scholarship
- Preference given to Jonesboro and West Poinsett county area (Harrisburg, Weiner, Waldenburg, and Fisher).
- Minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
- Consideration of scholastic achievement, interest in the study of plant science (particularly soybean Recipient may NOT also be awarded the Neeley General Agriculture Scholarship.
- Award is $3000 per academic year ($1500/semester) and renewable through the senior year if recipient continues to meet criteria and funds are available.
Ruel Nester Scholarship
- Preference given to a resident of the state of Arkansas
- Jr. or Sr. Majoring in agronomy, horticulture, entomology, or plant pathology and planning to pursue a career in pest management.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA
