Through Act 100 of 1909 the Arkansas Legislature created four agricultural schools -- one in each quadrant of the state.  These four schools are now known as Arkansas State University-Jonesboro; Arkansas Tech University, Russellville; Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia; and University of Arkansas at Monticello.  In keeping with our agricultural origins, the informal evening was a thank you from the four schools to the Arkansas Legislature for their continued support.
