DEPARTMENTAL MISSION

The mission of degree programs in Criminology, Sociology, & Geography is to provide the best education possible for students by expanding their intellectual understanding of the world, developing their critical reasoning and communication skills, laying a foundation for understanding the scientific method and encouraging relevant career paths after graduation.

It is our mission to provide students a diverse, quality curricula focused on preparation in both the natural and social sciences. This mission merges well with the broad mission of the university which is to "pursue and share knowledge within a caring community that prepares students in challenging and diverse ways to become more productive global citizens" and the specific mission of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences which is to establish a partnership among students, staff and faculty to expand and disseminate knowledge.
