Welcome to ASU's Department of Physical Therapy website!

ASU PT offers two degree programs, the Doctorate of Physical Therapy (inaugural class starts this fall) and the Associate of Applied Science for the Physical Therapist Assistant.  Both programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).  ASU PT has graduated physical therapists for many years with the Master of Physical Therapy degree; our final MPT class will graduate December 2010.  Detailed information on both of our programs, as well as on the background and activities of our faculty, staff and students are found on this website---explore and enjoy!

ASU's Physical Therapy Department (ASU PT) is an exciting place to be in 2009.  I am very happy you stopped by the website.

ASU PT is a part of the College of Nursing and Health Professions at ASU which affords our students and faculty many opportunities for interdisciplinary education and research.  We are fortunate in PT to have a well prepared, high energy faculty as well as tremendous resources on campus that provide a variety of unique learning opportuniteis for our students.  Some of the unique resources we have on campus include:

-Hippo Therapy Center, directed by Dr. Roy Aldridge, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy;

-the Beck PRIDE Center for Veterans Health (in our building!) that is directed by Susan Tonyman and clinically staffed by Becky Keith of our PTA program;

-Clinical services are provided by physical therapy faculty and students on our campus;

-a comprehensive Speech and Hearing clinical facility staffed by the Department of Communication Disorders that offers interdisciplinary clinical and research opportunities for our faculty and students;

-the Reynolds Center for Health Sciences Center -- a new facility that just opened in August 2009; ASU PT has two research labs in with state of the art equipment.  Yes, exciting times at ASU PT!
