General Information

Advanced Placement Summer Institute
Arkansas State University
July 16-19, 2012

We welcome teachers to be a part of the Advanced Placement Summer Institute hosted by ASU. It will include ten areas for certification for AP and three areas for Pre AP. Each AP consultant serving the teachers is strong in subject matter and highly skilled in presentation.

This Institute will prepare public school teachers to use specific strategies, techniques and resources for creating the successful AP classroom. Student success in Advanced Placement courses is a strong indicator of future success in college. This year, the Institute will offer training in thirteen AP and Pre-AP subjects. Most AP and Pre AP classes are arranged for both new & experienced teachers. AP Statistics will be "New" only. AP Biology will be offered through two separate courses: One serving experienced AP Biology teachers and one for new AP Biology teacher. This service for training teachers in AP & Pre AP strategies is provided through the College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Special Education.
