The Department of Psychology & Counseling is comprised of seventeen highly-qualified faculty members. Our faculty are a diverse but overlapping and cohesive group with backgrounds including experimental and professional psychology, counseling, and rehabilitation. Faculty are active in research and grant-writing, dedicated to teaching, and involved in professional organizations. We are supported by a very competent department secretary and a handful of motivated and skilled graduate student assistants.
The department has programs accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE), and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling Related Education Programs (CACREP). In addition, the school psychology track in the ED.S. Psychology & Counseling Program is approved by the Arkansas Department of Education and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
Psychology & Counseling Department offices, classrooms, and support facilities are conveniently located in the Education Building on the east side of campus. All of our offices and classrooms have internet connections. Faculty teach in "smart" classrooms that are capable of delivering multimedia instruction. We have a computer lab that supports both our courses and individual student projects. We also have an experimental psychology lab with support facilities.
We share a clinic with other departments in the college that is located on the first floor of the Education Building. The clinic has a group counseling room, and six individual client rooms, all with remote video-taping and audio communication capabilities.
