This page identifies parameters that have been established by previous action of the Department of Teacher Education Curriculum Committee and/or the University. This page is intended to help faculty anticipate common questions regarding transfer credit that advisors face and how those questions should be answered.
There is a three step process for evaluating transfer credit.
Step 1
It is recommended that official transcripts be requested by the advisee for coursework completed at colleges other than ASU-Jonesboro. If not already completed, these transcripts should be sent to the ASU-Jonesboro Registrar. If ASU-Jonesboro Registrar has received official transcripts for coursework done elsewhere, faculty who have completed WebExtender training should have access to copies of these transcripts in WebExtender. In WebExtender under "Evaluation" the advisor can determine what has transferred. A listing of what courses transfer from what colleges/universities is also posted on the Transfer Credit page of the Registrar's Website.
Step 2
If the student has completed education courses that are not showing as transferring in WebExtender, then check the Approved Transfer Credit of Professional Education Coursework link. This link identifies education courses that have already been approved or denied by the Department of Teacher Education Curriculum Committee. Check here to see if the Curriculum Committee has already acted upon a particular course from a particular university/college.
Step 3
Finally, if there is a professional education course which has not been evaluated by the Department of Teacher Education Curriculum Committee and the advisor feels that a particular education course should be allowed to transfer for credit for an ASU education class then the student should fill out a Request for Transfer Credit Form. The completed form should be given to the advisor for his/he rsignature and the advisor will submit it to the Department of Teacher Education Curriculum Committee for evaluation.
