The purpose of the Master of Arts in Teaching provides prospective teachers with a Master’s degree in teaching, as well as an Initial State of Arkansas Teaching License.
Admission in to the MAT program for Fall 2012 will close August 3.
After that time, the Department of Teacher Education will no longer accept students into the Early Childhood Education MAT program. Changes in licensure proposed by the Arkansas Department of Education eliminate the PreK-4 licensure in 2014.
Applications received after August 3 for the MAT program will be considered for Fall 13 into the MLED MAT program. Students may not enroll in MLED MAT graduate coursework for the program until the new rotation begins in Fall 13. Students planning to begin the MLED MAT program in Fall 13 may wish to apply for undergraduate status in Spring and Summer 13 to complete coursework deficiencies needed to complete the program’s undergraduate requirements (Arkansas History and Exceptional Student in the Regular Classroom) if they have not done so already. Working with Dr. Towery (email@example.com), MLED MAT advisor, is highly recommended prior to enrolling in undergraduate coursework to accurately determine your specific deficiencies.
