Arthur Monroe Shride Memorial Scholarship

Qualifications for receiving Scholarship:

Full-time incoming freshman from Randolph County

First preference is a student majoring in College of Education, preferably Elementary Education with an interest in teaching the value of nutrition and physical fitness

Second preference may be a student majoring in physical education

If there are no applicants from Randolph County, next preference is Sharp and Lawrence Counties and then other counties may be considered.

Qualifications for Maintaining Scholarship:

Award may be renewed through senior year if student continues to meet criteria and achieve academic progress

Selection Made By:

Scholarship committee consisting of Associate Dean of College of Education, Chair of Department of Teacher Education, and Chair of Health, Physical Education and Sports Science

Other Comments:

High School counselors should be kept informed of the availability of the scholarship in the specific geographic area
