The General Engineering Program (BSE) is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org ,
The General Engineering Program has published educational objectives that are consistent with the institutional mission and ABET criteria, has a process that periodically documents and demonstrates that the objectives are based on the needs of the program’s various constituencies, has an assessment and evaluation process that periodically documents and demonstrates the degree to which these objectives are attained, and uses the assessment results to improve the effectiveness of the program. The General Engineering Program is guided in this process by the Engineering Advisory Committee.
The College of Engineering also has three undergraduate academic programs that are not accredited by ABET: a Civil Engineering program (BSCE), an Electrical Engineering program (BSEE), and a Mechanical Engineering program (BSME). Students may obtain the ABET-accredited BSE degree and one of the discipline-specific degrees (BSCE, BSEE, or BSME) without having to complete additional coursework. All engineering degree programs are also accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
