Dr Beasley ASU Bell Tower

These are exciting times for Engineering at Arkansas State!  Our undergraduate enrollment is increasing, we are expanding our efforts in research, and we’ll be building a research-based graduate program in the near future.

The College of Engineering continues to change to meet the demanding challenges of education in the 21st century.  Our ABET-accredited BSE (general engineering) program has been joined by discipline-specific programs in civil engineering (BSCE), electrical engineering (BSEE), and mechanical engineering (BSME).  We have also added a Masters of Engineering Management (MEM) program.

Our engineering programs are recognized regionally and nationally for their academic excellence and unique educational experience. We believe in promoting excellence in engineering education with emphasis on teaching, mentoring, and student learning. Our faculty and students are actively involved in research and consulting and are routinely recognized for their exceptional contributions. Many undergraduates gain valuable experience in research and consulting by working along side the faculty and with local industry. Major strengths of the programs, noted by students as well as accreditation teams, are the significant amount of student-faculty interaction, small class sizes, open-door policy of faculty, freedom of students to openly discuss curricular and professional as well as personal issues with faculty, and the camaraderie of their fellow students.  We are among the few engineering programs that offer a truly multidisciplinary approach that prepares graduates for the work environment that exists today. Although majoring in a discipline-specific field, all engineering students complete multiple courses with other discipline-specific engineering majors and complete a capstone design course working in multidisciplinary teams.

As the College initiates the Center for Efficient and Sustainable Use of Resources (CESUR), we will expand the size of our faculty, significantly increase research in the materials and sustainability areas, initiate a number of masters-level courses, and implement a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) program.

If you are not already a part of our network of faculty, students, alumni, employers and friends, we hope that you will join us soon. We look forward to seeing you on campus, so please contact or call us at 870-972-2088 to schedule a visit to learn more and get involved.
