Exit Interviews

Federal Regulation requires that all student loan borrowers attend an exit interview prior to leaving school where details concerning your loans will be discussed at length. Upon graduation, you will receive a letter relaying the specific location and time for the meeting. It is important to keep an accurate graduation date and address with the loan department to assure our records are correct. Failure to complete an exit interview will result in a HOLD on transcript, registration, and cap and gown.

Group exit interviews are scheduled for borrowers toward the end of each semester. If you have a Perkins Loan, and do not attend the group meeting, you will be required to wait your turn in line in the Student Accounts' Office, to attend an individual interview.

What happens during an exit interview?

Generally, a 15-minute video will be shown explaining the importance of repaying the loan and /or completing cancellation, deferment or forbearance forms. Financial papers including a truth-in-lending letter and a repayment schedule will be given to you along with copies of promissory note(s) and other important information stating your rights and responsibilities.

Please bring the following information with you to the exit interview:

  • Billing address and phone number
  • Driver's license or state identification number
  • Address and phone number of current or expected employer
  • Address and phone number of next-of-kin (family member)
