Program Description The M.S.E. in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to prepare directors of Special Education, Gifted and Talented, and Curriculum and Instruction.
Admission Requirement Students seeking admission into the Master of Science in Education degree program in Curriculum and Instruction must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School and the specific program requirements.
Unconditional Admission Status 1. Hold a valid teaching license. 2. Achieved a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). 3. Have two years of teaching experience. 4. Have a written commitment from a practicing educator who will function as your mentor during the program.
Conditional Admission Status Students who do not meet the requirements for unconditional admission may be granted conditional admission as follows: 1. Hold a valid teaching license. 2. Achieved a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale) or a 3.00 GPA on the last 60 hours. Any courses attempted, including any repeated courses, are considered in computing the GPA. 3. Have two years of teaching experience. 4. Have a written commitment from a practicing educator who will function as your mentor during the program.
Any student granted Conditional Admission Status will be advanced to Unconditional Admission Status at such time as the student completes 12 graduate semester hours in the M.S.E. in Curriculum and Instruction program of study with no course grade lower than a "B". Coursework must be taken at either ASU-Jonesboro or at an ASU degree center. Students who fail to remove conditional status upon completing 12 semester hours of graduate work in the program will be dropped from the degree program.
Deadline for on campus degree: Fall - July 1 and Spring - November 15
