Program Description The purpose of the Master of Science in Education degree with a major in Special Education - Gifted, Talented, and Creative (GTC) is to offer educators a planned performance-based program of study related to the education of gifted, talented, and creative students which is based on recommendations of professional organizations and accrediting associations such as the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and NCATE.
Admission Requirement Students seeking admission into the Master of Science in Education degree program in Special Education - Gifted, Talented, and Creative must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School and the specific program requirements.
Unconditional Admission In addition to Graduate School criteria, academic proficiency must be established through satisfaction in either of the following admissions selection criteria: 1. 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work. 2. Hold a current teaching license 3. Have a written commitment from a practicing GTC educator who will function as your mentor during the program.
Conditional Admission In addition to Graduate School criteria for conditional admission, academic proficiency must be established through satisfaction of either of the following admission selection criteria: 1. 2.75 GPA in undergraduate Work or 3.0 in last 60 hours. 2. Hold a current teaching license 3. Have a written commitment from a practicing GTC educator who will function as your mentor during the program. Deadline: Fall - July 1 and Spring - November 15
