Admissions

Student must be at least 18 years old to apply to Arkansas State University. If you are under 18, you will need to provide a proof of having a legal guardian in United States.

Admission for Intensive English Program (English as a Second Language) Students
All Applicants MUST

  • Complete the International Student Application Form
  • Pay $40 Application Fee for ESL, Undergraduate, and Master’s programs, $50 Application for Doctoral programs.
  • Copy of Passport
  • If you attended or are attending a U.S. academic institution (including language programs) you must submit the ASU International Student Transfer Clearance Form

  • Submit an Original or Official (Notarized) Financial/Bank Letter  or Statement in English issued by a Bank or Financial Institution, along with a Sponsorship letter from the Sponsor.  Financial and Sponsorship documents must prove cash assets with the following amounts:

Applying for ONLY Language Training

  • Official (Notarized) or Original Copy of High School Diploma in native language with translation in English.
  • Official (Notarized) or Original Copy of High School Transcripts in native language with translation in English.  Minimum required Grade Point Average is 2.2/4.0 for summer 2011 and 2.3/4.0 from Fall 2011.

Applying for CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE for an Undergraduate Program

  • Official (Notarized) or Original Copy of High School Diploma in native language with translation in English.  Minimum required Grade Point Average is 2.2/4.0 for summer 2011 and 2.3/4/0 for fall 2011.
  • Official (Notarized) or Original Copy of University Transcripts native language with translation in English (if attended any). Minimum required Grade Point Average (GPA) is 2.0/4.0.

 

Applying for CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE for a Graduate Program

  • Official (Notarized) or Original Copy of University Diploma or Provisional Graduation Certificate without any conditions stating that Bachelor’s Degree awarded in native language with translation in English
  • Official (Notarized) or Original Copy of all University Transcripts in native language with translation in English. Minimum required Grade Point Average (GPA) is 2.75 /4.0 for graduate school. GPA requirement and admission deadlines may change for some programs and are subject to change. Refer to respective program’s webpage. Conditional Admission does not guarantee admission into graduate program.

If you have successfully completed Level 5 of ESL, please follow the steps below:

Undergraduate:

1)      Submit New International Student Application form for Academic programs to the Office of  International Admissions located on the ground floor of the Administration Building in Room 115

2)      Have TICE send proof of English program completion or submit an official IELTS/TOEFL score. Refer to the International Admissions webpage for a list of required score.

3)      Check the webpage of the respective program you are intending to apply for.  Each Academic department might have different admission requirements and deadlines. Refer to the Intended Program’s webpage.

4)      Take the undergraduate placement  test (COMPASS Exam)

5)      Get advised from first year experience and your respective department.

6)      Follow the steps for registration listed below to register

7)      Get updated Admission letter and I20 from Office of International Programs.

 

Graduate:

1)      Submit New International Student Application form for Academic programs to Office of  International Admission located at Administrative Building Room No 115

2)      Have the ESL program send a proof of English completion or submit official IELTS/TOEFL score. Refer the Admission webpage for list of required score.

3)      Check the webpage of the respective program you are intending to apply for.  Each Academic department might have different admissions requirements and deadlines. Refer to Intended Program’s webpage.

4)      Get advised from your respective department.

5)      Follow registration step listed above to register

6)      Get updated Admission letter and I20 from Office of International Programs.

Transfer Undergraduate Process:

1)      International Admission office at ASU needs to receive official academic transcripts from each institution you have attended.

2)      ASU’s Registrar office completes the initial transfer evaluation for all applicants.

3)      Upon arrival to campus, the student needs to contact the advisor to work on transfer credits. It is each student’s responsibility to make sure that they have course descriptions and syllabuses for each course they took.

4)      Any courses listed as transfer credits need to be evaluated and approved by each respective academic department and advisor before it can be counted as a specific course at Arkansas State University.

5)      If any elective credit is approved as a specific course, academic department will send information to the registrar office.

6)      ASU’s Registrar office will then make necessary changes on the student’s transfer worksheet.

Steps to register:

1)      Go to http://www.astate.edu/info/current-students/

2)      Click on Change Your Password/Activate Digital ID

3)      Type in your ASU ID number, Pin number will be your 6 digits birth date (mmddyy), type in your new password. It gives your user name and email address.  For example: John.doe@smail.astate.edu . John.doe is the user name.

4)      Go to https://mycampus.astate.edu/web/mycampus/home

5)      Type in User name and Password

6)      Click on Banner Self Service

7)      Go to Student tab

8)      Click on Registration

9)      Click on Add/Drop classes

10)  Select a term and Submit

Type in CRN (Course numbers/code) assigned by your advisor or Click on Class Search and select the class your advisor assigned to you.
