MILITARY SCIENCE AND LEADERSHIP I
Class: The MSI course is the freshman level course required for cadets who have not attended basic training. This course consists of two semesters and teaches an Introduction to Leadership. Cadets will learn basic soldiering skills, the Army Values, health and fitness, effective communication, and US Military customs and courtesies. This year will facilitate a foundation to build on as they progress through the program and prepare themselves for their future careers as Army officers.
Rank: MSI is the freshman level course in the ROTC program. Cadets hold the rank of trainee (C/Trainee) during the fall quarter. Deserving cadet trainees will be promoted for the winter quarter to cadet private (C/PVT). During the spring quarter deserving cadets will be promoted to cadet private first class (C/PFC). Promotion will be based on ROTC performance, undergrad GPA and the recommendation of the Platoon Leader and Platoon Sergeant to the Company Commander and the First Sergeant.
