Academic Standing

Good standing is when your cumulative gpa (your entire gpa) and your term gpa (current term only) are both over a 2.0.

Probation is when either your cumulative gpa or your term gpa is under 2.0.

Suspension is when both your cumulative gpa and your term gpa fall below 2.0. Undergraduate students must be on probation during the previous term before they can be suspended.

Undergraduate students can go to summer school at ASU no matter what their academic standing is. Summer is a time where "you can only go up" in your current standing. Your grades in summer school cannot hurt your current academic standing.

For instance, if you were on probation in Spring and when you attend summer school, you bring up your cumulative gpa over a 2.0, then you are off probation. If you were on suspension and you bring up your cumulative gpa to over a 2.0 during the summer, then you are off suspension.

If you do not go to summer school, your standing will stay the same as you enter the fall semester. At the end of fall semester, we will evaluate your cumulative gpa and your term gpa again and a new standing will be posted based on the rules above.
