Grantsmanship

Office of Pre-Awards

The Office of Pre-Awards provides grants and contracts support to faculty who seek external funding and negotiates Material Transfer Agreements. Office of Research and Technology Transfer (ORTT) staff works collaboratively with the faculty to ensure adherence to grant guidelines and assist in the development of project budgets.

In an effort to better serve the University, ORTT has contracted with Cayuse for online submission of grant proposals. When submitting a proposal for external funding, please follow the steps listed below. This will ensure that ORTT has all the required information in a timely manner so that your grant submission and subsequent funding will not be delayed unnecessarily.

Form Submission:

Submission FORMS can be found here.

  1. Print the proposal submission checklist, found here

  2. Log on to the Cayuse Website and provide necessary information related to your project.

  3. Arrange a budget consultation with ORTT staff at least one week prior to funding agency deadline.

  4. Budget approval by ORTT no later than 3 days prior to funding agency deadline.

  5. Proposal cover sheet filled out correctly and completely and attached to proposal.

  6. If a doctoral Graduate Assistant will be supported by this grant, the Graduate Tuition from External Funding form must be completed and submitted with the grant proposal before the proposal can be submitted to the funding agency. The Graduate Assistant tuition waiver form can be found here

  7. All necessary signatures should be obtained before submission.

  8. The complete proposal, with cover sheet, should be submitted to ORTT:

    • 4 days prior to deadline, if submitted by mail

    • 2 days prior if submitted electronically

If you have questions about the procedures involved in grant submission, please feel free to contact the ORTT office at (870) 972 2694.

NOTE: When submitting a grant proposal, the agency guidelines must be included with the proposal. This is to ensure that we know what is required and can verify all aspects of the proposal before submission, therefore eliminating costly delays. This is to help you!
