Teaching and Research - Susan Davis Allen is Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Laser Applications and Science at Arkansas State University. She holds rank in Chemistry and Electrical Engineering with adjunct appointments in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Memphis and Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She has an active research program in collaboration with several other faculty at ASU and the University of Memphis in laser processing of materials, light activated bioprocesses and laser sensors. She is the author of more than 150 papers and more than 13 patents and has presented more than 200 technical papers at conferences. She has served on advisory boards at NSF, DoD, NAS and several professional societies and is currently a member of the President's Committee on the National Medal of Science.
