Research Interests

    * Dietary and Aqueous uptake of Quantum Dots in an aquatic food chain using Artemia franciscana and Pimephales promelas.
    * Validation of a binary disinfection system (microbial contamination).
    * Bio Assays using Pimephales promales, Ceriodaphnia dubia, Daphnia pulex, Chironomus tentans.

Currently my research focuses on the fate and effects of nanoparticles (especially TiO2 and Quantum Dots) on various test species. We are working in collaboration with Dr. Alexandru Biris, Chief Scientist at the Nanotechnology Center, University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

One of our latest work traced the uptake of Quantum Dots into algal cells and their transfer through a simple food chain to Ceriodaphnia dubia.  Results of this research appeared in Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry 27(9):1958-1963.
