Sara serves as the Transfer Coordinator in the Office of Admissions at Arkansas State University. Take a minute to get to know her a little better.
Hometown: Jonesboro, AR
Favorite Place on Campus: The Red WOLF Center is my favorite spot on campus! It's a great recreation facility to use for working out, lifting weights, running - or even taking exercise, yoga or dance classes. The best part...it is free for students to use - and it is open late!
Favorite Event as a Student: I always love attending ASU theatre productions at the Fowler Center. Even though I am no longer a student, I still try to attend them all. The ASU Department of Theatre does a great job - from the sets to the acting...and even the makeup! They are always highly enjoyable and very entertaining!
Free Time Activity: As corny as it sounds, my favorite free-time activity is spending time with my friends and family. It doesn't matter what we are doing - eating, watching a movie, shopping. We are always going to have a good time!
Favorite Place to Eat in Jonesboro: Anywhere in downtown Jonesboro! Most of the restaurants are locally owned, so you are able to get amazing food and great service - with a fun (and eclectic) local atmosphere.
Most Interesting Class I Took at ASU: I took Motion Picture Appreciation as an elective during my senior year, and it really opened my eyes to different types of films and filmmakers that I otherwise may have never had the opportunity to see. As a result of this class, I now have a strong appreciation for Hitchcock, foreign and Orson Welles films.
I Knew ASU Was "The One" When...I found out that ASU was the only school in the state to offer the degree program I wanted to pursue. Also, ASU was the best financial decision for my family. But, most of all...ASU is a great place to meet new people, get involved and learn from outstanding faculty members.
Why I Recruit for ASU: I love that I have the opportunity to recruit for my Alma Mater! I enjoy talking with students and their parents about all the exciting things that are happening at ASU. As an Admissions Counselor, I'm able to help students make decisions that will have a huge impact on the rest of their lives.
#1 Piece of Advice for Prospective Students: Visit the college campuses for which you are interested in applying. A campus visit is such a huge factor in deciding where you will want to call home for the next few years! Also, stay on top of application, scholarship, housing and any other deadlines. You certainly don't want to miss out on any opportunities!
