Student Recreation and Wellness Center
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center was designed to meet the non-academic recreation and wellness needs of ASU-J students. A healthy lifestyle is of growing importance to our students who expressed the need for this facility. Funded by a student fee approved by our Student Government Association, the new center will provide students with greatly expanded fitness space and equipment, and will allow us to provide them an increased level of recreation activities and classes.
Students can expect a facility with state-of-the-art equipment and activity areas. The new center will house four basketball/volleyball courts (one with the capability to accommodate sports such as dodge ball and indoor soccer). Other amenities will include a walking/running track, free-weight training and cardiovascular fitness rooms, multiple fitness activity classrooms, and meeting rooms.
The Department of Residence Life, Division of Student Affairs, will open a new residential facility for honors students in fall 2009. The Honors College Residence Hall will be a living-learning community in the truest sense. This community will create a distinct sense of identity for the Honors students chosen to live there. Both upperclass and first-year students living in the Honors Hall will be active participants in The Honors College and in their Honors residential community.
Honors residential activities will be a model for collaboration as the Division of Student Affairs and Residence Life team with students, faculty and professionals from The Honors College to offer innovative programming. In addition to the Honors courses that are the heart and soul of the Honors experience, additional academic, cultural, and social events will provide a well-rounded experience for the students living and learning in this unique venue.
