Christmas Angels and Christmas Baskets - November 28 - Dec 2. DSO will be soliciting donations for christmas angels and christmas baskets to any family in need.
Past Events:
Fundraiser for National Walk for Epilepsy. February - March 14, 2011. DSO raised $138 that went towards National Walk for Epilepsy.
The purpose of the Walk is to raise awareness of epilepsy, increase funds for programs, and help the research for cures. Your $2 donation went toward National Walk for Epilepsy and in turn, you was entered to win an Apple iPod Shuffle.
Amy Samons, DSO President was in the walk in Washington, DC on March 27. Congratulations to Becky Murphy for winning the iPod!
Christmas Angels, Toy drive, and Food drive. Dates TBA. All donations must be in the week before Fall break.
Next meeting: Wednesday, November 3 at 4:30 p.m. SGA Boardroom.
Christmas Banquet: December 4, 6 p.m. China Buffet on Caraway.
Homecoming Tailgate, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Look for Delta Sigma Omicron banner. It will be in the Pines area (East of Football stadium, Stadium Drive side). We will have BBQ. The football game ASU vs. Louisville will start at 6 p.m. Come out join us and show your support for ASU football team. This event is sponsored by DSO and SGA Action Fund.
Dinner & Dance - Saturday, April 17 at 5 p.m. in the Pavilion. DSO celebrated 10 years. We honored our graduates and Disability Services volunteers. We enjoyed dinner, music, door prizes and games. All DSO members, Disability Services students and volunteers were invited.
Homecoming tailgate - Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Location: The Pines. The Red Wolf Medieval Guild performed a medieval demonstration. Everyone wore red.

Food Drive - March 2009 for the Jonesboro Food Pantry.
Exhibit and Technology Fair, March 17, 2009, at 9:00-2:00. Place: Dean B. Ellis Library, First floor lobby. The Fair displayed state of the art computer technology used for classes, software, equipment, assistive technology as well as services for persons with disabilities provided by organizations in the area. DSO also had a booth. Sponsored by: Delta Sigma Omicron. Partially funded by SGA Action Fund.
Iraqi Veteran's Compelling Story of Struggles and Triumph, March 18, 2009, 11:00--12:00. Place: Student Union, Mockingbird Room. Presenter: Anthony Smith, Retired U.S. Army Major. Sponsored by: Delta Sigma Omicron. Wounded by a rocket-propelled grenade and flat-lined by the time the medics reached him, this ex-Army Major beat all of the odds and has a compelling story of courage and trials to share. His struggles and successes are an inspiration to all!!

March 12, 2008 - The Miracles Performance and Symposium. The Miracles, a group of musically-gifted adults, live at The Baddour Center in Senatobia, MS. The center is a residential community that is designed for adults with intellectual disabilities. They have performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C and at the White House. Contact: Vaneta Harvey. Sponsored by: ASU Disability Services, JHDC, BCM and DSO. Wednesday, March 12, Performance at 12:00 noon, Student Union Center Court. Symposium at 1:00-4:00 pm, Mockingbird Room.
November 14, 2007 - Thanksgiving baskets were distributed to students with disabilities in need. At least 25 baskets were distributed.
November - Angel Tree. DSO collected and distributed gifts for families in need.

Christmas Party - Thursday, December 7th at the Pavillion from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm. This was a Christmas Dinner for members, spouses, and families followed by a "Dirty Santa" gift exchange ($1 limit on gifts) and karaoke fun!

Fund Raiser - Participants donated a dollar for a chance to win a 20 inch flat screen TV with a panasonic stand. Donations made a dream come true for a 6 year old boy with cancer. His dream was to go to Disney World. Donations also helped cover his medical expenses. The drawing was on April 5. Each ticket was $1.
Yard and Bake Sale, Saturday, April 22, ASU Pavilion.
LUAU 2006, Saturday, April 15 @ 7:30 pm in the ASU Pavilion. Rhyme and Reason Band entertained the group. There was lots of food and fun for everyone.
Food Drive Challenge! DSO challenged each individual, department, and all organizations on campus to donate canned food for The Salvation Army Shelter. Trophies were awarded to the top three organizations/ departments/ individuals. Participating organizations and departments received a Certificate of Appreciation.

Thanks to the organizations, departments, and individuals who participated in the challenge, over 800 canned food items were donated to The Salvation Army Shelter.
Christmas Angel. December, 2005. DSO collected Christmas gifts for 8 family members of an ASU student who died in an auto accident. DSO also volunteered for The Salvation Army Angel Tree booth.
Thanksgiving Basket. November 2005. DSO gave away Thanksgiving baskets to students with disabilities.

Location: Unity Park. --> DSO challenged each individual, department, and all organizations on campus to donate canned food for The Salvation Army Shelter. A Winner's Plaque was awarded to the organization that collected the most donations.

3 on 3 WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
WHAT: 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball.
Regulation basketball will be played with only modification consisting of:

Skill Training: TBA, Demonstration of chair use and wheelchair basketball
COST: $25.00 per team, funds contributed towards the Disability Services Scholarship Fund

Drawing for a 20" TV fundraising - All proceeds went to individual students with disabilities. Tickets were $1.00 each. The drawing was held on March 29, 2007.
Salvation Army Angel Tree - DSO members volunteered their time to work in The Salvation Army Angel Tree booth in the Mall at Turtle Creek on Saturday, December 9th, from 10 am - 9pm. Volunteers worked one or two hour shifts.

WHO: ASU Students/ Faculty/Staff Teams maybe be co-ed, combination of students/faculty/staff
Fraternities/Sorority may sponsor a team, or just organize an independent team
a) remain seated in a wheelchair (chairs provided)
b) two pushes of wheelchair before either dribbling or passing the ball
c) every team will have at least one female
Game is limited to 15 minutes or first team to score 5 points (1 point per basket)
