Alternative books are also called audio books, books on CD/tape, and e-text. Students are required to own the physical copy of the textbook.
Disability Services recommends that students register directly with RFB&D to obtain an audio format of textbooks. RFB&D is a national nonprofit organization serving persons who cannot read standard print because of a visual, perceptual or other physical disability.
Disability Services provides alternative textbooks for courses that are not available through RFBD.
To request alternative books:
a) Notify the Disability Services Coordinator, Christina Laurentia, to request books.
b) Submit your class schedule and title, author, edition and the ISBN of the books as soon as possible. (It may take up to six weeks to receive the books).
c) Pick up the alternative books and the CD player (if applicable).
d) Return the books and the CD player to Disability Services at the end of the semester.
