Alternative Loans are recommended only for students who have exhausted all of their eligibility for Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized and Grad PLUS Loans, or are not eligible for the Federal Direct, Unsubsidized Federal Direct Student Loans, or Grad PLUS loans. These loans are not recommended to be used in addition to the above-mentioned student loans.
