Crime Prevention

You can help us prevent crime on campus.  As part of the educational mission of the University, the ASU Police Department works to teach the campus community how to best protect themselves and their property.  The cooperation, involvement, and personal support of students, faculty, and staff in a campus safety program are crucial to the programs success.

Students, faculty and staff must assume responsibility for their own personal safety and the security of their personal belongings by taking simple, common sense precautions.

- Do not prop open door that are meant to lock when closed.

- Lock residence hall rooms and offices even when leaving for a short time.

- Mark valuable items with an engraving instrument (UPD will do this for free.)

- Secure bicycles with a secure U style lock.

- After parking your vehicles, keep them locked and all valuables out of sight.

- Report suspicious persons or activity to the University Police at extension 2093.

- Do not hesitate to contact the University Police for an escort.

- Always check around your vehicle before entering.

- NEVER leave your backpack, wallet, laptop, etc. unattended for any reason.

- ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings.
