Welcome to First Year Studies where our focus is on helping first-year students make a successful transition to college.
First Year Studies houses the Right Start Program for students needing to complete developmental course work upon entry to ASU. First Year Studies faculty members also serve as advisors to students in the program and work with developmental students to be academically successful.
The Director of First Year Studies also coordinates the First-Year Experience courses known as Making Connections which is required for all first-year students during their first semester at the university. The course is a three-hour credit course and over 80 sections of Making Connections are offered each fall semester. The course is designed to help students make the transition from high school to college student and core content focuses on university policies and procedures, college study skills, self-management issues and library and research skills.
We faciliate the success of first-year students
and assist them in achieving their educational goals.
