Services Provided

Tutoring

Need help with College Algebra or even calculus?  As a participant, you will receive individual or small group tutoring provided by qualified peer tutors who are familiar with the requirements and expectations of ASU professors.  Tutoring will be available to participants in general education and major specific courses.

Advising & Counseling

Helping students navigate the system, decide on majors, develop better study skills and habits, learn about graduate school opportunities, and reduce their stress levels are just a few of the ways that the qualified counselors/advisors in the SSS program can help you become a successful college student.  We understand that college students have needs other than academic and we want to assist you, whether it's through our program or our referral network.

Mentoring

If need is indicated, you will be matched with an upper-class student or faculty member who will provide additional services and support through our mentoring program.

What's the Catch?

There really isn't one.  Services are available at no charge to participants.  To be considered for SSS, you must meet the following conditions:  Be a U.S. citizen/national or meet residence requirements for federal student aid.  In addition, you must have need for academic support; be either a first-generation college student (neither of your parents have a baccalaureate degree), and/or meet family income guidelines; or be an individual with disabilities.  The need criteria are similar to eligibility for federal student aid, but eligibility for one does not necessarily mean eligibility for the other.
